Sediment budgets

There is a clear need for a better understanding of the response of fluvial systems to land use and climate change, in order to anticipate and perhaps predict future changes, and to understand current dynamics. Sediment budgets are an important tool to reconstruct the biogeochemical fluxes and to understand the links and discontinuities between the sediment sources and sinks in geomorphic systems over long-time scales as addressed within the LUCUFS framework.
